Scientists from the Pepper Institute have learned that the frequency and quality of sex depends on the division of household work.

The results of the study, which involved more than 1,100 married couples with more than 27 years of marriage experience, demonstrated: the sexual satisfaction that spouses receive is directly related to how household responsibilities are distributed in the family

Scientists have suggested that two factors may matter: the amount of time each spouse spends on housework and the fairness of its distribution. The survey revealed that in those families where both spouses believe that household responsibilities are distributed fairly, both of them consider their sex life more satisfactory

At the same time, the quality of sex is almost not affected by the time that partners actually spend on doing their part of the housework - it is important that the spouse believes that the distribution is fair

Study participants noted that as soon as household responsibilities were redistributed in their family, the frequency of sex increased, and it was more enjoyable. And the point is not that more time was freed up for intimacy; the decisive life-changing factor was precisely the feeling of support and equal participation of the partner in such an important part of family life as everyday life.
