Pornhub chided Instagram for "unfair" posting rules and bans on obscene content against sex workers and performers on its platform.

It was revealed last night that PornHub's Instagram account was permanently removed from the platform for repeatedly violating parent company Meta policies.

The social media giant removed the official Pornhub account this month under pressure from conservative anti-porn groups.

The National Center for Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) said in a statement that it is working with a group of international lawyers to share evidence of "criminality" on Pornhub with Instagram, demanding that the Meta-owned company take down Pornhub.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Meta told Vice that Pornhub's Instagram account was "permanently disabled" for "repeatedly violating" the platform's policy, but did not specify which rules were violated.

In response, Pornhub accused Meta of a double standard when it comes to its online nude sharing policy, citing the sultry images shared by Kim Kardashian.

In an open letter to Meta, Pornhub claimed that sex workers and adult artists have "been undermined for years by Instagram's opaque, discriminatory and hypocritical enforcement of its own terms and policies."

“Sex workers and performers are being unfairly targeted in the form of bans, shadowbans, suspensions, loss of Live privileges, and removal of content despite taking extra care not to violate the Instagram Community Guidelines,” the post reads.

"We demand explanations and guidance as to why our accounts are continually being deleted and why the content we spend money creating to engage with our audience is being deleted, even if we're not violating any Instagram policies."

Pornhub backed up its claim by pulling up a series of images Kardashian shared, including her cover for Interview magazine's September 2022 issue.
“Kim Kardashian posted her full nude to her 330 million followers without any restrictive action from Instagram,” the letter reads.

“We are happy to see that Kim and the art team behind the image are free to share their work on the platform, but wonder why we are being denied the same treatment.”

Pornhub concluded its letter by urging Meta to provide "full transparency and clear explanations for any suspended or banned accounts, stop shadowbanning" and reinstate all accounts that did not violate its rules.

The open letter was signed by the Free Speech Coalition, the Guild of Adult Performance Artists and 60 artists.
