This condition is called postcoital dysphoria or postsexual sadness. It manifests itself as feelings of sadness, disappointment, dissatisfaction or even longing after an intimate relationship. Although this condition is not pathological and, in most cases, goes away on its own, it can create negative emotional consequences for a person.

The causes of post-sexual sadness can be different. One of them is hormonal imbalance. After orgasm, levels of hormones such as oxytocin and prolactin can drop sharply, causing feelings of fatigue, apathy and even depression. Also, the post-sex state can be affected by physical or emotional fatigue, dissatisfaction with the sexual experience, stress, anxiety or negative thoughts associated with one’s body or partner.

For most people, post-coital sadness is temporary and passes quickly without having a serious impact on mental health. However, it can be a serious problem for some people, especially if the feeling of sadness becomes persistent after sex or leads to excessive anxiety or depression.

There are a number of things you can do to cope with post-sexual sadness:

1. Discuss your feelings with your partner. Having an open and honest conversation about your emotions after sex can help you understand what's causing the condition and find ways to solve the problem.

2. Have a post-sex ritual. For example, you can take a shower together, talk, chat, or just cuddle to create a pleasant and cozy atmosphere after sex.

3. Seek help from a specialist. If post-sexual sadness becomes a problem, do not hesitate to consult a psychologist or sexologist who can help you understand your feelings and find a solution.

4. Engage in independent activities after sex. Doing something enjoyable and relaxing after intimacy can help relieve stress and improve your mood.

5. Remember that post-sexual sadness is normal and does not always mean serious problems. The most important way to cope with this condition is to accept it and understand that it is temporary.

It is important to remember that sexual relationships should bring pleasure and joy, and not cause negative emotions and trials. If post-sexual sadness becomes a problem, seek help to find a solution and restore the joy of intimacy.
