The men were scanned during and after the climax and found that the entire cerebral cortex, the "thinking" part of the brain, stopped during orgasm. Two other areas then caused the "deactivation" of all sexual desire.
Serge Stolerou, a French scientist, said: "These experiments give us the first ideas about what happens in the brain during orgasm. For women, it seems different."
He says that women do not have such a strong refractory period, which is the recovery phase during which the body calms down and regains its sensitivity.
So sometimes women may wonder why their partner lost all interest when they just want more.
