Myth 1: Men are the Family Breadwinners

It's a widespread belief that men are the primary providers for their families, but recent archaeological findings challenge this myth. Researchers have discovered that in ancient times, women played a significant role in providing food for the family. In fact, 80% of the food, including nuts, melons, and bird eggs, was sourced by women, not men.

Myth 2: Mothers Recognize Their Children by Smell, Fathers Don't

Contrary to the notion that only mothers can identify their children by scent, Swedish scientists conducted a study involving infants and children aged one to four years. Parents were asked to smell samples of their children's clothing. Surprisingly, fathers were able to correctly identify their children's scent, while mothers struggled to distinguish between their offspring, even among the youngest ones.

Myth 3: Women are Better with Children

Research from the University of California suggests that fathers establish emotional bonds with their children after birth and can accurately interpret their signals, such as hunger, fear, or boredom. The study also found that fathers' reactions to their children's laughter were more reserved compared to mothers.

Myth 4: Women Have Superior Intuition

Contrary to popular belief, a comprehensive analysis of studies conducted since 1983 revealed that there is no gender-based difference in intuition. Both men and women perform similarly in intuition tests.

Myth 5: Women are Less Aggressive

In terms of physical aggression among children and teenagers, boys tend to display more aggression than girls. However, when it comes to other forms of relational aggression like indirect aggression, gossip, friendship manipulation, and emotional manipulation, girls tend to exhibit higher levels of aggression.

Myth 6: If a Wife Works, She Earns More Than Her Husband

According to the SOEP, a long-running representative study in Germany, only 35% of working women earn more than their husbands, debunking the myth that working wives consistently outearn their spouses.

Myth 7: Men Are the Sole Innovators

Numerous female innovators have made significant contributions to various fields. For example, Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin decoded the structure of over a hundred molecules using X-ray crystallography. Ada Lovelace Byron is considered the pioneer of computer programming, and Stephanie Kwolek invented Kevlar, a lightweight, bulletproof material.

Myth 8: Women Aren't Interested in Pornography

Contrary to the stereotype, more than half of women admit to watching pornography, compared to 73% of men, according to a survey by the Gewis-Institut in Hamburg. Moreover, during erotic shows on television, women outnumber men in viewership.

Myth 9: Women Talk More

Interestingly, studies show that men are more talkative than women when it comes to everyday conversations. Experts have found that men tend to speak more words during casual discussions on various topics.

Myth 10: Men Don't Experience Hormonal Fluctuations

There is evidence to suggest that men may experience cyclical hormonal changes that impact their emotions and behavior. These fluctuations, similar to a monthly cycle, can affect a man's libido and overall mood, causing periods of irritability and emotional changes. Scientists believe these cycles occur every 23 to 33 days.
