WHAT WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE PENIS

The truth is that a man has less control over the "behavior" of his penis than other body parts, such as his arms and legs. This is due to the fact that the penis is responsible for a part of the nervous system that does not always fall under conscious control. It is called the automatic nervous system, which also regulates heart rate and blood pressure.

Sexual arousal is usually not a volitional process. Consciousness plays a certain role, but much of the excitement passes through the sympathetic nervous system. Additionally, impulses in the brain during REM (rapid eye movement during sleep) trigger erections, whether you're having sex with Carmen Electra or an exam you didn't study for. Lifting heavy or stretching that causes a bowel movement can also cause an erection.

Penis Shrinkage
Don't panic! As the penis grows without your consent, so does it shrink. The penis in an unerect condition varies in size in different men.

Exposure to cold water or air shrinks the penis (temporarily, of course). This is a reaction of the sympathetic nervous system.

Psychological stress also affects the sympathetic nervous system. When you're relaxed and relaxed, your penis in an unerected state will look bigger than when you're stressed. Stress affects libido, as well as the strength of erection.

Of course, erection problems can occur not only from stress. Physical problems such as atherosclerosis or high blood pressure can affect the blood circulation in the penis. Type 2 diabetes can affect both the capillaries and nerves that are involved in erection. Exessive alcohol use can also do a lot of harm. The penis is a kind of barometer of the sympathetic nervous system.

The penis may be different in size in a relaxed and excited state
Among men, there is no constant relationship between penis size in a flabby and erect state. In a study of 90 men, the difference between an erect and a relaxed member was found to be erratic. So don't be impressed if you see a man with a huge penis in a relaxed state – in an erect it may not be so big. The same applies to men with a small penis in a relaxed state – they can surprise you with a large erection.

The penis has the shape of a boomerang
Just as you don't see the roots of a tree, you don't see the entire part of your penis that is located inside the pelvis.

In a photo taken by an MRI, the penis looks almost like a boomerang. A French scientist discovered this while photographing people having sex in an MRI scan (as unusual as that sounds).

One of the methods of surgical penis enlargement is cutting off the tendon, which holds the penis to the pelvic bone. This can give a few extra centimeters, because the penis shows up a little more, but sometimes significant side effects occur. This ligament keeps the erect penis in an upright position. If it is cut, the erection loses its upright angle and falls down.

The penis can be broken.
There is no bone in the member, but it can still be broken. This injury is not harmless. When it happens, a loud crack is heard and the penis turns black and blue in color. The pain is terrifying.

A penile fracture is rare, but it usually happens to younger boys because their erections are still unstable. Here's how to avoid such a fracture – do not overstrain your penis! If you have sex too rough and hit the penis in the pelvic bone of your partner, or if the woman is on top and involuntarily intercepts the penis too strongly, it can cause a penis fracture.

Peyron's syndrome is something similar that occurs in older men. If the penis curves a certain way for a long time, during sex, small ruptures in the tissue can form scars, which eventually twists the penis.

Not all curves in the penis are problematic, of course.

Most of the world's penises are uncircumcised.
A report by the World Health Organization and the United Nations against AIDS (UNAIDS) reports that only 30% of men from 15 years old are circumcised.

Religion/nationality also influences circumcision. Almost all Jewish and Muslim men are circumcised, making a total of 70% of all circumcised men in the world.

The U.S. has the highest percentage of circumcised men for non-religious reasons, at 75 percent. In Canada it is only 30% and in the UK – 20%.

Circumcision of infant boys in the United States is practiced for medical and cosmetic reasons. The World Health Organization also recommends circumcision for older men, as circumcised people have a lower risk of contracting AIDS.
