The American who staged the shooting at a gay club last year pleaded guilty to five murders, for which he will receive five life sentences without the possibility of pardon, the judge said.
Last November, 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich killed five and wounded at least 18 people in an attack on a popular sexual institution in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
"On five first-degree murder charges, you will receive five consecutive life sentences ... without the possibility of early release. Do you know about it?" asked the judge who pleaded guilty.
He replied in the affirmative.
In addition to the five first-degree murders, Lee Oldrich pleaded guilty to 46 first-degree murder attempts and two "bias crimes."
