One in three women in the world has been sexually assaulted at some point. Wanting to reduce the number of these victims to zero, the UN staged an exhibition in Brussels called "What were you wearing then?" The exhibition includes dresses worn by victims of attacks, as well as items such as diapers and towels.

"It doesn't matter what the woman or girl was wearing. She was forced to do things she didn't want. After all, rape is an unprovoked crime. These outfits enhance the emotional impact of the victims' stories and prove that the attacks on them were unexpected. The simple items of clothing and hygiene presented here, as well as hospital gowns and children's toys, show that the rape was sudden, brutal and without the consent of one of the parties. We need to prevent such crimes."

The European Union has allocated 500 million euros to support Spotlight. This is the name of the UN anti-rape initiative.

"We have proven the effectiveness of this approach. We need the support of other people and organizations. We hope to increase the amount of funding from 500 million euros to 1 billion euros. Our initiative should reach all countries, because women all over the world are subjected to this treatment."
