For Women
There isn't a strict medical mandate to immediately shower after vaginal sex. It's crucial to understand that the vagina self-cleanses through natural secretions, often eliminating the need for soaps, scented cleansers, or antiseptics. Disrupting this natural self-cleansing process might upset the healthy microbial balance and acidity levels, leading to irritation and vaginal flora imbalance.

Avoiding Interventions
Avoid douching or vaginal rinses with specialized products as they could eradicate beneficial bacteria crucial for vaginal health. In reality, these procedures might heighten the risk of vaginal and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Hygiene Recommendations
For those accustomed to using soap around the vulva area, it's advisable to opt for a gentle, unscented soap. Adhering to hygiene practices, such as washing from the vagina towards the anus, helps prevent the transmission of infections from the anorectal region.

For Men
There's no immediate rush to the shower post-sex; waiting until the morning or a convenient time is acceptable. If a condom was used, it's crucial to remove it before the penis becomes flaccid. It's better to hold the base of the condom to prevent spillage. Avoid pulling it by the tip, as it might result in spillage.
