According to experts, the lack of nets can contribute to the safety of tourists. It is assumed that algae accumulate on them, which feed on fish. The latter, in turn, is hunted, including by sharks. Thus, underwater barriers only attract predators to the shore.

Experts: less than 10% of Hurghada hotels are equipped with shark nets

At the same time, experts urged hotels to follow the instructions of the Ministry of the Environment for beach holidays. Among the prescribed measures are the placement of warning signs at a depth of 2 meters and the installation of 5-meter towers on the shore to monitor the sea surface. In addition, lifeguards on duty in hotels must have a speedboat and be able to provide first aid to the victims.

Another way to prevent collisions should be the chipping of dangerous species of sharks living in the waters of the Red Sea. Thus, it is planned to install satellite monitoring of the movement of predators.
