Sexological studies always generate interest, and this time was no exception. Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology conducted a study, the results of which revealed that the average age at which men stop engaging in sexual activity is 64 years old, while for women, it is 58 years old. These findings sparked active discussions, and specialists, including sexologist Oleg Shevchenko, shared their opinions and advice on this matter.

According to the study, more than 15% of men and 7% of women continue to maintain an active sexual life even after reaching the age of 80.
This indicates that sexual health and activity are not necessarily limited by age, and there are factors that influence the duration of sexual activity.

However, from a physiological perspective, age does have an impact on sexual function. In women, after the age of 40-45, there is a decrease in the production of sexual hormones, which can affect their libido. By the age of 50, some women may also experience a sensation of dryness during intimate moments. Sexologists, such as Oleg Shevchenko, recommend considering hormone therapy in such cases, which can help address these issues.

Men also have physiological aspects that influence sexual activity.
One of the key factors is the level of testosterone, the hormone responsible for sexual desire. Testosterone levels can decrease with age, leading to reduced sexual desire and problems with erections. Cardiovascular diseases can also have a negative impact on men's sexual function.

However, despite these physiological changes, sexologists emphasize the importance of lifestyle and health. Proper nutrition, physical activity, and attention to overall health can significantly increase the duration of one's intimate life. These recommendations are relevant for both men and women.

Sexual health and activity in old age are essential aspects of overall well-being and quality of life. Research in this field continues, and with each passing year, we learn more about how to maintain a healthy and active sexual life throughout our lives.
